Why Ultrasound?

Our ultrasounds provide 3 key pieces of information to help in your pregnancy decision.

1. Is the Pregnancy in the Uterus?

An ultrasound scan will identify whether your pregnancy is located within the uterus or outside, which is an ectopic pregnancy. This type of pregnancy is non-viable and considered a life threating medical emergency. If you considering to have abortion and your pregnancy is ectoptic, the different abortions procedures will only affect the uterus and your health will still be at risk.

2. How Far Along Am I?

Our ultrasounds will help determine how far along you are in your pregnancy. Having this information will aid you in your pregnancy decision.

If considering abortion, knowing how far along you are determines the type of abortion procedures available and helps identify potential risks. Medical abortion, like the abortion pill, is FDA-approved through 10 weeks of gestation. Not knowing how far along you are and receiving an abortion procedure not meant for that gestional age is risky and can cause further complications to your health.

If considering going through this pregnancy, determining the gestational age of the fetus can further help you determine what medical care you need for the health of yourself and the fetus.

3. Is the Pregnancy Viable?

Our ultrasounds can assess if the fetus has a heartbeat ( viable) or not, (non-viable). Home pregnancy tests only results positive at a certain hcg levels and cannot assess if fetus is viable or not. This information will further assist you in your pregnancy decision and course of action.
